From Graffiti to Contemporary Art: TRANQUILO’s Journey from Liniers to the World

From early scribbles on the streets of Liniers to international exhibitions, TRANQUILO’s journey has been a fascinating evolution from street art to contemporary expression. In this post, we delve into TRANQUILO’s origins, the transition from graffiti to large-scale paintings, and how his distinctive style has captured both Buenos Aires and the world.

  • Early Beginnings in Liniers: My artistic journey began in my birthplace, Liniers, where I started painting at the age of 14. In those early years, graffiti became a means of expression and a way to connect with my surroundings. The streets of Liniers were my canvas, and graffiti was my first artistic language.

  • Return in My 20s: In my 20s, I revisited graffiti with a new perspective. While street art remained an integral part of my life, I realized I wanted to explore beyond the confines of the streets. My approach began to mature, and I started experimenting with different techniques and styles while retaining my graffiti essence.

  • Consolidation in My 30s: It was in my 30s that TRANQUILO’s street art reached a new dimension. The streets of Buenos Aires became the main stage for my work, and my style evolved, characterized by the vibrant yellow color and round form of the TRANQUILO character. My graffiti transformed into a more refined yet equally vibrant expression.

  • International Expansion: As my art gained recognition, I had the opportunity to take it beyond Buenos Aires. I’ve exhibited in various cities around the world, including Mexico, Spain, Germany, and England. Each city has added a new layer of inspiration and enriched my work with a global perspective.

  • Unique Style: TRANQUILO’s style is unmistakable: a yellow, round character that conveys warmth and friendliness. My graffiti letters, always in cursive, reflect the fluidity and dynamism of my art. This style has been compared to the lettering seen at the Madrid dock and the “flechero” style, known for its elegance and energy.

Conclusion: TRANQUILO’s journey from graffiti on the streets of Liniers to contemporary art has been a natural and exciting evolution. Each stage of this journey has contributed to TRANQUILO’s artistic identity, blending the essence of graffiti with the sophistication of modern art. I am grateful to all who have supported my work and joined me on this journey.
